Chanel Paradisa

Chanel Paradisa

Our mystery wine, a type of dessert style made from a variety of grapes blessed by the Pope, of which we have the largest planting in Australia, and perhaps the world as there is no record of their existance in Europe.

In 1837, French Catholic missionaries first arrived on the French Polynesian Island of Futuna carrying precious cargo of Chilean grapevines. The first Oceanic Catholic Saint, Father Pierre Chanel, lived alongside the natives on the east coast of the island for many years, tending to the vines, which to this very day are regarded by the locals as possessing special healing powers. This unique grape variety is notably succulent, of a similar size to table grape varities, and has miraculously flourished in the Eastern Australian climate.

Dr. Richard Smart, responsible for the presentation and for much of the scholorship on this exotic grape variety, has ascertained that the vine first made its appearance on Australian soil over 150 years ago, with Bishop Pompallier en route from New Zealand.

In 1986, Dr. Richard Smart had the honour of presenting the Saint's Vine, Chanel Paradisa, to the late Pope, John Paul II, and now for the first time, Chanel Paradisa is available for your drinking pleasure.

Price per bottle: $25.00

Wild Lime Liqueur

Made from wild limes when in season, the fruit was sourced from trees remaining around old dairy farms high up in the rainforests of our coastal valleys.

History is unsure where the fruit came from or what their original purpose was but we have put the small mandarin shaped fruit to an interesting use.

The orange colour and tangy taste provides a refreshing additive to soda or tonic water for those hot summer days without too much sweetness.

There are only small volumes made of this refreshing drink each year and it sells out quickly so orders need to be placed to preserve your allotment.

Shake well before pouring as only minimal filtration has been applied, refrigerate after opening.

Tahitian Lime Liqueur

Similar to our wild lime but green in colour and made from Tahitian limes. Just as tangy and used also as a drink mixer potraying a real taste of lime.

The trees produce their fruit in one main flush so again we have seasonally made Liqueur.

There are only small volumes made of this refreshing drink each year and it sells out quickly so orders need to be placed to preserve your allotment.
